OTF presentation - Vietnam Digital Consumer World Expo

On Thursday 14 July 2011, General Manager of the Open Technology Foundation (OTF) Mr Stephen Schmid delivered a presentation entitled Open technologies in government, it's not just about policy at the Vietnam Consumer Digital World Expo in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr Schmid spoke on the topic Vietnam ICT Market and Technology Outlook 2010-2011 about government benefits of open technologies, policy and strategy, barriers blocking the open technologies vision and how to overcome barriers through proper coordination, sharing and support.

Attendees of the conference included two of Vietnam's most renowned IT strategic influencers, Dr Do Trung Ta, Chairman of National Council for Scientific and Technological Policies (NCSTP), Special Envoy of Prime Minister for IT and Dr Nguyen Quan, Minister of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City.

The presentation follows the ‘open technology' of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Vietnamese Ministry for Science and Technology (MOST), the OTF and Carnegie Mellon University – Australia who are taking a lead role in establishing the OTF.

We will continue to forge valuable relationships with MOST to deliver open technology initiatives for the benefit of the Vietnam public administration sector.
